Don't be a Fashion Victim, Here's What's New this Season! - Guest Post by Jae Rustia

Even if you love all things fashion, keeping up with all the trends — the dos and the don’ts — and staying on top of the fashion game can be tricky. From top fashion magazines issuing their trend reports to fashion bloggers sharing their take on the latest trends, fashion has never been more popular than in this.

Nobody wants to look like a fashion victim these days — we want to look good without looking like we are trying too hard or looking like we don’t have a clue. Having enough basics and classic pieces in your Wardrobe to work with no matter the season is the first step to earning your fashionista stripes, after that, well, all you need to do is to invest in a few on trend pieces to take your look to another level.

No matter whether you are stepping in to chilly autumn days or warm spring nights, the following are some on trend pieces you can rock, to look like a style maven.

Suede is making a glorious comeback. From short dresses to crop tops, suede is being featured on a variety of fashion pieces and making huge statements along the way. Incorporate this rich looking material in your next outfit whether to the office or for a romantic dinner date.

More than any other part of the body, this season, the fashion world wants us to show off our clavicle bones and shoulders. Show off your bare shoulders in a light dress for those spring days or pair an off the shoulder top with a chunky snood if the weather is cool where you are at.

Lace ups were huge last season and it looks like they aren’t going anywhere. Try flat sandals that lace up all the way to your knees, paired with short shorts and a light jumper, this is a great romantic look for spring. You can also go for caged ballet pumps that tie at your ankle, which you can wear with skinny trousers and a trench coat for the office.

You can call it nautical chic or 90s chic, regardless, scarves wrapped around the neck are making a comeback and giving us a chance to channel classic style. Pair your scarf with a simple white shirt and a dark denim jacket or wear it with a dress and a chunky cardigan for a more feminine look.

Heels took a back seat to sneakers last season and these days, they are still so on trend to wear with anything from skinny denim to dresses. White sneakers in particular are causing a wave in the fashion world and becoming more sought after as the sports shoe to wear with everyday looks.

Hold all bags and clutches; bowler bags and totes have all had their moment to shine but this season, it is all about the backpack. Maybe it is because of the rise of athleisure or maybe we just all love the 90s so much, but whatever the case, investing in a backpack this season is one way of being on trend.

From large, seventies inspired frames to cat eye, wayfarer or horn rimmed, rocking bold sunglasses is still a dominant trend. So whether you are shading your eyes from the growing strength of the spring sun or you are protecting yourself from the gloominess of the coming winter, now you can do so easily in a pair of sunglasses that suit the shape of your face.
